Kim Delaney is an American actress best known as the character detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she won the Emmy Award. Also, she has appeared in dramas such as All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives and CSI: Miami. Delaney was the only daughter of a United Auto Workers executive and his wife who was a household worker. Her childhood was spent within a household that included four brothers. Though she had a dream of becoming a journalist, it wasn't until high school that Delaney began to model. After moving from New York City and gaining an experience working as a commercial model and commercials in New York did she achieve the career as aspiring court reporters. As a teenager her first appearance as an actress was in the soap opera of 1980 All My Children. Since then, Delaney has been featured in many film and television dramas. While she has a career success, her private life isn't as content and successful. In the past, this accomplished actress battled the effects of alcohol and two marriages fall apart. In 2005, she was denied the custody of her son.
